Gullah Geechee Futures Project

Mission

To uplift and empower emerging culture bearers to carry on the traditions of Gullah Geechee culture into the future.

Many of the Gullah Geechee culture bearers throughout numerous sacred and historic sites are often working alone and need the support of passionate and energetic young people to begin passing the torch to. In partnership with Morehouse College’s Movement, Memory, & Justice Project, a Mellon Foundation initiative, the Gullah Geechee Futures Project is identifying college students across the country to engage in ongoing research and service learning opportunities in hopes to build connections to these cultural institutions for the future.
